CSI best episodes ever COUNTDOWN … #1!!!!!!!!

25 Nov

And finally, for #1, an episode of the 5th season, called “Harvest”. I adore this episode. It involves a religious family that breaks down after the youngest daughter goes missing. As the story unfolds, we find out that the eldest son has been battling with leukemia for many years; and through finding the little girl’s dead body, we learn she had been pinched and probed way too much in her life, so as to keep her brother alive. I don’t want to give away the ending, but it’s a great story about faith, and pain and love.

Ok, so finally, that’s all. I hope this encourages someone to go watch some of this episodes, I promise that if you’re a TV fan,you wont regret it .

CSI best episodes ever COUNTDOWN … #2

At #2, I chose the acclaimed season 5 finale episode “Grave Danger”, directed by the amazing Quentin Tarantino. It’s probably the most famous episode of the show, and as many may know, it revolves around one of the members of the team (Nick) being buried alive and having his every move streamed live through the internet for his friends and family to see. The CSI team has very limited time to find Nick before his air supply finishes, blood-sucking ants eat him alive, or he finally has enough and uses his one available bullet to kill himself.

At #3 I chose the episode “Built to Kill”. It was the two-part season opener for season 7, and I chose it because it is a brilliant episode filled with lots of action and an amazing cinematography. When the episode starts, Captain Brass is recuperating, after being shot in the season 6 finale; a mayor character gets killed, another one gets drugged and kidnapped, and we get to see the ‘Cirque du Solei’ perform and John Mayer singing. To top it all off, we get introduced to a serial killer who has major relevance in the show: the miniature killer. And this episode is made beautifully. The photography is impeccable. The shots of the circus performers give you goose bumps and the soundtrack is amazing.

CSI best episodes ever COUNTDOWN … #4

I had another thing that I left behind and Im sorry for that 😀 … the CSI best episodes countdown. So anyway, trying to redeem myself –though im pretty sure no one was following the CSI posts – im going to post the top 4 episodes I was missing, in a row. I just have to say that these 4 episodes are all amazing in my opinion and it was very hard for me to choose an order for them. I will give them each a ranking but I think that the outcome is purely subjective, and I think many could disagree – and I don’t mind -; it’s a pull between strong stories, great story-telling, and amazing visual result.

First off, for #4, I chose an episode of the first season called “Too Tough to Die”. I won’t say much about this one, again, so as not to spoil it. You will notice that it is very different from what we are accustomed to see on CSI, cause on its first season, the show was obviously just starting to find its way, the image is a bit poor, its filmed on a 4:3 screen ratio, and the general technical aspects are not as good as what the show offers, but it is an amazing story: “what kind of system rewards the criminal when the victim is too tough to die?”.

CSI best episodes ever COUNTDOWN … #5

So I’ve said I was going to do a top 5 list of the best CSI (vegas) episodes. I’ve been thinking about it for long time and I haven’t been able to narrow it down… so I decided to do a 10 episode countdown of the way I see it. I think it wont have the obvious go-to choices that captured big ratings and had the amazing cinematographic effects, but as a devoted follower of the first 9 years of CSI, I can honestly say that these 10 are -FOR ME- the strongest episodes of the series, story-wise.

My choice for #5: CATS IN THE CRADLE

The episode revolves around the investigation of the murder of an old cat lady, stabbed with an unidentified object. Her dead body is actually being nibbled on by her pets. The story develops as the team delves into the life of the lonely woman and her interactions with her neighbors.

#6 CSI BEST EPISODES EVER… COUNTDOWN

24 Oct

Next in the countdown, “Gentle, Gentle”. I’ve always loved this episode. Again, I don’t want to give the ending away because I’m trying to get people to watch it, but it starts with a missing baby that seems to have been kidnapped from his home and is later found dead. The team quickly figures out that the family has some involvement in the event and is withholding important information. This episode goes deep into understanding family construction and the bonds that hold even a dysfunctional family together.

My choice for #7: FEELING THE HEAT

The case in this episode starts when a dead baby is found inside a car. The father forgot the baby was with him and left him inside the car, and… in summer in Vegas weather, the baby didn’t make it.  But that’s just the beginning of the episode; as it develops, the team will unveil deeper disturbing information concerning the grieving family.

My choice for #8: WHO SHOT SHERLOCK

Ok, this episode was something I had to put in here! The team has to investigate the death of SHERLOCK HOLMES!! ¬¬ weeell, a Holmes’ impersonator, so focused on his obsession that has recreated the detective’s living room perfectly. The guy is shot at close range on the head, and though the gun isn’t found on the scene, everything else makes it look like a suicide. The team then has a real mystery to solve, worthy of the real Sherlock.

“Still life” is an episode of the 6th season that revolves around the story of a woman whose son was just kidnapped. The big turning point comes when they finally find the kid, with a married couple that claims that he is theirs.

So, anyway, here goes my choice for #10: PIRATES OF THE 3RD REICH

This episode marks the second return of a character that followers of the show may be quite familiar with: Lady Heather… an intriguing dominatrix that captured Grissom’s interest since day one, and has made several appearances during the years. I’m a huge fan of her character and of her unique relationship with Grissom, and this is the episode I’ve chosen as her personal best. In past episodes, Heather’s business has found itself involved in mysterious deaths to which she was never responsible for. In this one, however, she is more than a mere chat partner to Grissom; she is in actual distress when the victim of the week turns out to be her daughter. Not only was her emotional turmoil a powerful moment on the show for those who had followed her character’s past appearances… the episode in itself is a complex thriller revolving around a mad scientist with race-domination ideas that keeps you on your toes the whole time.
